Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis has described Bruce Springsteen, who will headline this year's event, as the “best performer in the world”.
"I saw him in Cardiff last autumn and honestly I haven't seen anybody like him," he told the BBC. "There is no-one better in the world."
Eavis, who is one of the festivals' founders, said he had written a personal letter to Springsteen asking him to perform at the festival, which will take place from June 26th-28th.
The festival's organiser also said he was relieved that this summer's event had sold out after ticket sales for last year, which was headlined by rapper Jay-Z, were slower than expected.
"It was scary for a while and I lost a bit of sleep too," he said. "I've been doing this show for 39 years and I've never lost sleep before.
"It was worth it though seeing Jay Z and his wife Beyonce. She said she'd never seen anything like it before in her life."
Neil Young and the recently reformed Blur are rumoured to be the other as-yet-unannounced headliners at this year's festival.
